Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 84th birthday on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Continuing his decades-old tradition, the ‘Shahenshah’ of Indian cinema stepped out of his iconic Mumbai residence, Jalsa, to greet the massive sea of fans who had gathered to catch a glimpse of him on his special day.
While the moment was incredibly memorable for his well-wishers, a shocking incident during the fan meet has now become the talk of the town. An overenthusiastic young female fan attempted to breach the tight security cordon to shake hands with the veteran actor. The ensuing moment, captured on camera, has gone viral across social media platforms, sparking a massive debate among netizens.
Here is a complete breakdown of the security scare outside Jalsa, Amitabh Bachchan’s reaction, and how the internet is responding to the viral video!
The Security Breach at Jalsa
Every year, thousands of fans gather outside Jalsa on Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday, and the crowd control requires heavy police and private security presence. In a viral video circulating on social media, a young girl dressed in a black top and blue jeans is seen trying to push past the heavy security chain.
Showing extreme enthusiasm after waiting for hours, the fan desperately reached out her hand, trying to break the human barricade formed by the guards in an attempt to touch and shake hands with the Kaun Banega Crorepati host. The situation escalated slightly as the mob standing outside the gates also began getting out of control, forcing the security personnel to aggressively intervene and block the girl from every side.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Reaction
Dressed elegantly in a traditional kurta-pyjama, Amitabh Bachchan was seen warmly greeting the massive crowd with a smile and his signature folded hands. However, when the young fan stretched her hand out, the actor deliberately chose not to step forward.
He dismissed the request for a handshake, allowing his security team to handle the situation and gently push the crowd back behind the designated barricades. While he continued to wave and acknowledge the crowd’s love—even accepting a large, special garland of roses prepared by his admirers—he maintained a strict physical distance.
Internet Divided: ‘Rude’ or Justified?
The viral footage of Bachchan refusing the handshake has left the internet heavily divided. A section of netizens criticized the veteran actor, branding his behavior as “rude” and “arrogant” toward a young fan who had likely waited hours just to greet him on his birthday.
However, a massive legion of supporters immediately jumped to his defense. Fans pointed out that given his age (84) and stature, maintaining physical boundaries in an uncontrollable, chaotic mob is a basic safety and health protocol. Furthermore, many argued that encouraging one fan to break the security chain would have caused a massive stampede, justifying the actor’s decision to let his security guards intervene.
Despite the brief chaos, the legendary actor’s birthday remained a grand celebration, with wishes pouring in from industry peers like Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, and Kajol, proving that his stardom remains as untouchable as ever.
