Veer Sharma, a 10-year-old child actor, won hearts playing the young Lakshman in the television series Veer Hanuman. He was also reportedly set to play the child version of Saif Ali Khan in an upcoming film. His promising journey in the entertainment world had many fans watching his every move.
His elder brother, Shaurya (15), was preparing for the IIT entrance exams. Both lived in a multi-storey apartment in Kota with their parents—his father, Jitendra Sharma, is a teacher at a local coaching institute, and his mother Rita Sharma is an actress known for roles in works like Crash Course and Crimes and Confessions.
The Tragic Accident
Late at night, a fire broke out in the drawing room of their family apartment in the Deep Shree (Deepshree) Apartments in Kota’s Anantpura area.
Although the fire seems to have been contained, thick smoke filled the flat. Veer and Shaurya were asleep at the time and tragically died—suspected to have suffocated from the smoke inhalation. Although, rescuers arrived after neighbors noticed the smoke and forced entry.
Authorities believe the cause was an electrical short circuit in the drawing room. The exact details are still under investigation. An FIR has been filed.
Aftermath & Response
The loss has deeply affected the local community and fans of Veer. Also many expressed their shock and grief on social media, remembering Veer’s youthful charm, talent, and joy he brought on screen.
In a gesture of compassion, the family donated the boys’ eyes, fulfilling their wishes.

As investigations continue, officials are probing the electrical wiring and flat safety protocols to ensure such tragedies are prevented. Supporters of Veer and Shaurya are calling for accountability and stricter safety norms in residences.
